Francesco Brun received his degree in Computer Engineering (summa cum laude) in April 2008 discussing the dissertation "Development of algorithms for quantitative characterization of tissue engineering scaffolds for biomedical applications". In 2012 he received the PhD degree in Information Engineering (curriculum Bioengineering) at the Department of Engineering and Architecture (University of Trieste).
Research activities concern biomedical image processing and analysis. With more details, Francesco Brun focuses his investigations onto image segmentation in the limited resolution regime of in vivo MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and quantitative methods for the characterization of three-dimensional (3D) micro-CT (Computed Tomography) images. Special emphasis is given to phase-contrast micro-CT (with both synchrotron and conventional sources) for biomedical applications.
